There's a lot of good stuff in your essay - I appreciate the blend of research and personal. I haven't been able to read a book in I don't know how long since I've become solely an online reader. I lose patience almost immediately, and that bums me out. But your resolve is inspiring. Thank you for sharing this. xoxo

I'm grateful I've retained my desire to read books. Just after the fire, it was difficult, I couldn't keep focused. Something changed and now I'm reading again and picking up a book instead of the phone. Knitting is back in my life as well. Oh how I've missed those things. Books, hot tea, chocolate, knitting, Epsom salt baths. Bliss.

Thanks, Nicole. It’s also time for me to pick up a physical pen and stop the electronics. I live at an alcohol/substance-free course and festival center, so the alcohol part is easy...but giving up the hours of playing games while listening to inspiring interviews (I do learn things, but I could be drawing or knitting instead!) will be more challenging. You inspire me. Here’s to a magical 2023 in communion with all of the beings surrounding us, remembering languages older than words 🌿

Thanks LeAnn. You're right, there are so many things we could be doing, that I used to do. I was an avid knitter before I got a smartphone. Read a lot of non-fiction as well. Time to return. Yes to a magical 2023, there's so much to celebrate!
